Porsche Carrera Cup Rounds 1-2 Report

​It was the season opener for rounds 1-2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup this weekend with our drivers Lewis Plato (Pro) and Adam Knight (Am) in the 911 GT3 Cup Cars. Testing in the week had left us feeling confident and ready for the weekend, as we made great progress and felt prepared for Saturdays qualifying session. 

​We spoke to Valluga’s Team Manager Benji Hetherington post-race to hear his thoughts on the weekend, “Testing showed some great results for us as a team and the weekend as a whole, for what we expected was satisfactory”. 

​Qualifying saw both drivers working hard with Lewis putting in some great initial times, that resulted in him starting on the second row of the grid for race 1 the following day. Adam also pushed and finished 4th in class for the first race of the weekend.

​Sunday's first race showed Adam putting in great work gaining 2 positions and holding his own and went on to achieve his first podium finish for the season, as 3rd in class. Lewis battled it out throughout the first race and gained a position with 4 minutes to go achieving a 6th in class finish. 

​Race 2 after a 10 second penalty being awarded meant Lewis would start on pole for the partially reversed grid giving us a great starting position. Lewis dropped back a few positions and began battling his way up to finish in a respectable 4th in class position for the team.

​We spoke to both drivers also on reflection of the weekend, Lewis commented “Overall a good points start to the year. The team did a great job over the weekend to improve the balance of the car and get us racing at the front. With a bit more development at Brands Hatch I’m confident we can be racing for the podium”. 

​When speaking to Adam he said, " I'm really pleased with my podium result from race 1 and I am looking forward to improving my results next race at Brands Hatch". We can’t wait to get back on track for rounds 3-4 of the Carrera Cup at Brands Hatch in a few weeks’ time.
